其实还是有一处的,但经文本身看不出来,需要靠注疏来理解。
《南传本生经 四七九 迦陵识王菩提树供养本生谭》中提到作为供养对象的三类支提(Cetiya):
1.佛舍利
2.与佛有关系的佛日常使用、接触之物,如佛钵、菩提树
3.本身与佛无关,但可用以纪念佛陀之物,依注释佛像就属于此类

提到此三类支提的经文(汉译元亨寺版)如下——
阿难承诺,向如来讯问:「世尊!支提 1有几?」「阿难!此有三种。」「世尊!彼为何名?」「即:舍利利伽 2、巴利保吉伽 3及乌提西伽 4。」「世尊!如是世尊在世时,能否供养支提?」「阿难!舍利利伽不能供养,此非诸佛入灭后不能供养; 而乌提西伽因不具体而以念为礼拜;然而,诸佛使用之大菩提树,则无论佛之在世 或灭后,皆是支提。」
其注4云 乌提西伽为佛所营造建立之纪念的建筑物,与狭义之支提相当,如塔、精舍、法轮等,然,注释家以此类为佛之尊像。但,依此一本生谭所说之状为建造之物,勿宁可视为纪念圣地之意义。
英译No. 479.KĀLIṄGA-BODHI-JĀTAKA.The Jataka, Vol. IV, tr. by W.H.D. Rouse——
"How many shrines are there?"—"Three, Ānanda."—"Which are they?"—"Shrines for a relic of the body, a relic of use or wear, a relic of memorial 2"—"Can a shrine be made, Sir, during your life?"—"No, Ānanda, not a body-shrine; that kind is made when a Buddha enters Nirvāna. A shrine of memorial is improper because the connection depends on the imagination only. But the great bo-tree used by the Buddhas is fit for a shrine, be they alive or be they dead."
