谈起因果业力回报的问题，使我想起一个老掉了牙的故事。故事是说：
一个修行的和尚，一天搭船到对岸，船上有一百位乘客同行。
深夜乘客都熟睡了，这时和尚发现一位强盗正在磨刀霍霍，准备谋财害命，杀害船上乘客。
这时和尚应该怎末办？
这个问题好多年前，在悉尼中心的弟子引起一场辩论。
有的说，和尚明白因果业力回报的问题，知道这些乘客前世都曾杀过人，现在因缘成熟因此该受报被杀。因此和尚躲到一傍不理。
有的说，和尚大发慈悲心，不忍见到乘客被杀，也不愿强盗继续造恶业，因此把强盗杀了，宁可自已造杀业而下地狱受报。
两方面争个不亦乐乎，结果如何？我也忘记了。
网上的朋友们，我也希望大家一起来讨论，因为这个问题又引伸起另一个问题：
有的人认为修行不一定要做善事，做善事不是慈悲的表现。因为众生受苦是他前世造业的果报，应该让他受报而了了这个业。
你认为呢？
希望大家都来辩论，亲自参与辨出佛法的真理，这比你念经一年还来的受用。

修行要做善事.因为这是累积资粮之道.

The monk ( or say "if I was the monk), would have stopped the raider to kill the passengers. What karma?! If beings  are MEANT to suffer from Karma, then Budda did not need to teach us the ways to attend enlightment.
If we let Karma leads our ways, then there is no Dharma centre,  no hospital and no Buddha teachings etc etc etc. We, as buddha student, should put aside this Karma/Should/Shouldn't matters for one moment and listen to ourselves----> Do you let other beings suffer? The answer is clear and short--->we try our best to help; that is Compassion and that is what we are taught for.

Thus, we still donate money / effort to help those who suffer from hunger and sickness eventhough we KNEW that they are suffering form their negative Karma. If one has a compassion / bodichitta heart, one does not really need to recite so many mantra as I think Bodichitta is the essence of Buddaism. ( together with the understanding of Emptiness---And of course, the true understanding of emptiness should be built upon Bodichitta, but it is getting to complicated here, we 'll discuss this later on)

善念师兄说的故事，很像大商主，500商人和小黑人的故事。但那个故事的前提是，大商主有神通，知道500商人是不退转菩萨。他杀小黑人，主要是为了不让小黑人因为杀了菩萨而在地狱待无量无边劫，倒不是为了让这500商人逃过一死。

如果只是普通100乘客，普通一个强盗，普通一个和尚。和尚应该立刻把100乘客叫醒，在强盗还没磨好刀之前把他活捉。然后对他们开示……:lol

其实我认为这个问题不需要回答。就每个人对问题的理解的角度不同，思维不同，究竟不能看到事物的本质。。。。这也许是果，也许是因，看针对谁而言。。。
