<P>[1] 据《唐护法沙门法琳别传》卷中,此诏发布于“贞观十一年春正月”。按:《通鉴》,唐太宗此次赴东都洛阳巡猎,自贞观十一年二月出,于十二年二月还。</P><P>[2] 《集古今佛道论衡》本,“则”字前有“训”字,当衍。今依《续高僧传》、《广弘明集》本改。《法琳别传》,此句作“老君垂范,义在於清虚,释迦贻训,理存於因果。”</P><P>[3] 《法琳别传》此句为“论其教也”。</P><P>[4] 此句《法琳别传》本作“然则大道之兴”,《续僧传》作“然大道之行”。</P><P>[5]《法琳别传》此句为“事高有形之表”。</P><P>[6]《法琳别传》此句为“暨乎近世”。《续僧传》作“洎乎近世”。</P><P>[7]《法琳别传》此句作“诸夏之教”。</P><P>[8] “朕夙夜夤畏,缅惟至道,思革前弊,纳诸轨物。况朕之本系出自柱下。”此二句依《法琳别传》添。按:各本僧上之表皆有“伏见诏书。国家本系出自柱下,尊祖之风”一句,则此当为诏书所固有。</P><P>[9] 《法琳别传》此句为“至於讲论”。</P><P>[10] “女官”:《集古今佛道论衡》、《续高僧传》本作“女道士”,《唐护法沙门法琳别传》、《广弘明集》本为“女官”,后者文具较顺,故从之。又,或当作“女冠”。</P><P>[11] 此剧《法琳别传》本作“庶敦本系之化”。</P><P>[12] “尊祖之风”一句,依《广弘明集》增。“尊祖之风”,《法琳别传》本作“尊祖宗之风”,“宗”字当为衍文。</P><P>[13] 原无“不”字,非是。今依《广弘明集》增。</P><P>[14] “僧某”“某”,《续僧传》作“法常”,《法琳别传》作“琳”“法琳”。</P><P>[15] 《法琳别传》,“窃闻”后尚有一段文字,谓:“子见一善,必献其父,臣见一善,必献其主。臣子於君父,敢不尽心者焉?何者?父有诤子,身不陷於不义,士有诤友,身不离於令名”。</P><P>[16] 《集古今佛道论衡》、《续高僧传》与《唐护法沙门法琳别传》此句皆作“反同张禹”,《广弘明集》本作“反同张陵”,当是。今从《广弘明集》改。</P><P>[17] “反同张陵,漫行章句”义指张道陵之《老子想尔注》,刺其妄托《道德》经文,漫浪注疏,实为左道。</P><P>[18] 《续僧传》“中书侍郎”前有“敕遣”二字。</P><P>[19]“岑文本”:《旧唐书》、《新唐书》有《传》。 </P><P>[20] 《续僧传》此句作“僧等:明诏久行”。</P><P>[21] 《法琳别传》云:“其时表奏。帝遣中书侍郎岑文本宣口□云:语诸僧等。明诏既下,如也不伏,国有严科。法师饮气吞声,顾谓诸僧曰:帝在九重圣颜难□(测?),纵欲牵衣折槛,亦乃无由。未若踵武屈原,栖遑草野,结兰为佩,清白自居焉。”</P><P>[22] 《续僧传》:“实……不入市□,不执钱宝,不求利涉,三衣瓶钵,常不离身,虽当日往还,而始无辄离。”</P><P>[23] 《资治通鉴》:“武德元年(戊寅,公元六一八年):五月……癸未,薛举寇泾州……进逼高墌,游兵至于豳、岐……壬子,战于浅水原,八总管皆败,士卒死者什五六,大将军慕容罗睺、李安远、刘弘基皆没,世民引兵还长安。举遂拔高墌,收唐兵死者为京观;……辛巳,举卒。太子仁果立,居于折墌城,谥举曰武帝。冬、十月……仁果计穷,己酉,出降……癸亥,秦王世民至长安,斩薛仁果于市……”</P><P>[24] “大”,原文作“太”,当误。今改。</P><P>[25] “太上”,特指唐高祖李渊。时李渊尚未作“太上皇”。</P><P>[26] 此事据《续高僧传》谓在武德七年:“武德七年,猃狁孔炽,屡举烽爟,前届北地,官军相拒。有僧法雅,夙昔见知,武皇通重,给其妻媵,任其愆溢……”</P><P>《资治通鉴》:武德七年……八月……丙子,(突厥)寇并州;京师戒严。是时,颉利、突利二可汗举国入寇,连营南上,秦王世民引兵拒之。会关中久雨,粮运阻绝,士卒疲于征役,器械顿弊,朝廷及军中咸以为忧。世民与虏遇于豳州,勒兵将战。己卯,可汗帅万馀骑奄至城西……世民亦以恩意抚之,与盟而去。</P><P>《旧唐书·本纪第一·高祖》:“七年……八月戊辰,突厥寇并州,京师戒严。壬午,突厥退。乙未,京师解严。”《新唐书·本纪第一·高祖》:“七年……闰(七)月己未,秦王世民、齐王元吉屯于豳州,以备突厥。八月……壬辰,突厥请和。”</P><P>[27] 《续僧传》:“後法雅竟以狂狷被诛”。据《资治通鉴》卷193:“贞观三年(己丑、公元六二九年)春,正月……沙门法雅坐妖言诛。”《新唐书·裴寂列传》:“浮屠法雅坐妖言,辞连寂。”《旧唐书·裴寂列传》:“三年,有沙门法雅,初以恩幸出入两宫,至是禁绝之,法雅怨望,出妖言,伏法。兵部尚书杜如晦鞫其狱,法雅乃称寂知其言,寂对曰:法雅惟云时候方行疾疫,初不闻妖言。法雅证之,(寂)坐是免官,削食邑之半,放归本邑。”</P><P>按:唐初僧道以秽行事败者,朝廷常以“狂狷”、“妖言”为由诛之。又,隋唐鼎革之际颇流行谶纬之说。</P><P>[28] 《续高僧传》有《法常传》、《慧净传》、《法琳传》。</P><P>[29] “驾”,原作“顿”,非是。前文“随驾陈表”,《续僧传》“随驾至关”,故从之。</P><P>[30] 《续僧传》:“譬如弯弓放矢,随处即落,观于山水,末有亲疏之心。任时量处,省事为要。”</P><P>[31] 《续僧传》:“少时,卒於大总持寺。春秋三十有八。即贞观十二年正月也。”智实的早卒实际与被杖有很大关系。贞观十一年正月下诏,实等联络名僧,草拟表章,赴洛阳伺机陈表。表上、敕下,不服、被杖,回京郊,疾笃,还京与故旧别,贞观十二年正月卒,总共还不到一年时间。</P><P>《续僧传》谓实年三十八卒。然文错乱不可信。若依卒年38推定,则武德七年当为24岁,而不是21。又说实曾遇“慧乘、道宗、辩相”三法师而被吉藏称赞。而秦王破郑在武德四年,吉藏殁于武德六年,那时的智实绝不可能只有13岁!<BR></P>
